The Techniques Symposium is a free educational event organized by the Bioengineering and Bioscience Unified Graduate Students (BBUGS), an independent non-profit organization that relies on its own fundraising to achieve its scientific missions. The mission of this symposium is to provide a platform for researchers to learn about experimental techniques and products needed to advance their scientific goals in the bioscience field.

We are seeking sponsorship from companies who are willing to provide applications specialists and technical representatives to conduct seminars and hands-on demonstrations on research methods. We wish to stress that the Symposium is an educational training event, and is not meant to be a sales or product promotion event, although you are welcome to use your company’s products in your Technique demonstration. The Petit Institute organizes a separate event, the Vendor Showcase to allow companies to introduce their products to our staff and students.  We ask you to join BBUGS in providing an educational service to scientists and engineers at Georgia Tech and Emory University who are dedicated to discovery and innovation in the life sciences and medicine.

Sponsor Company Session Topics: Please note that we would like to avoid company-taught sessions about specific products or specialty techniques as this symposium is not a sales event. All invited companies have been recommended a session topic which is a widely used laboratory technique (for example 'Western Blotting Troubleshooting'). We would love to have you teach the basic protocols as well as  provide advanced troubleshooting tips for these techniques in seminar, workshop or demonstration format. Sponsor companies are welcome to suggest other topics which are relevant to our biomedical researchers.

Sponsorship Benefits:  By teaching widely-used research techniques which align with your company's expertise (e.g. western blotting, RT-PCR), sponsors will benefit from access to a targeted pool of researchers who are either new or advanced users in a research method your company specializes in, and are therefore likely to have a strong interest in your company's products.  See below for the different sponsorship level descriptions.

The sponsorship fee is also tax-deductible when checks are made payable to the Georgia Tech Foundation, with “BBUGS Techniques Symposium 2017” listed in the memo.
